It's been a while since I last posted so I thought I'd do a little post about all my current projects. They are all surprises so I don't have pictures. But I did take a picture of some of the fabric that I'm using that I absolutely love!

Impressions by Ty Pennington in Chartreuse & Gray

I may or may not have gone a little overboard when I placed this order. But isn't it awesome?! There were 2 or 3 other prints that I wanted but were out of stock when I ordered... maybe that was a good thing. :-)

My Stash

I took a few pictures of my fabric stash about a month ago and am just now getting them posted. So, without further ado here is a look into my newest obsession.

My dad and I picked out this fabric for my new travel bag... now if I could just get around to making it.

This is from Amy Butler's Love Collection. I love it! I plan to use it to make a messenger style tote bag for work.

Something about this set reminds me of Jaclyn.

I love the crazy funkiness of this print and thought the orange with white flower outlines toned it down just right.

What can I say? I love all the colors and flowers!

I picked these out cause they are such a sweet combination. I think it will make a cute bag set.

This was supposed to be a tote bag, but I accidentally cut the first big piece out upside down. Now I need to decide if I'm going to make the bag anyway or think of something smaller to make. I love the fabric and it has a good heaviness that will make a great purse.

It's hard to tell, but this is a dark purple background. It is beautiful!

Well, those are the highlights of my stash. I have a few other odds and ends fabrics and a bunch of awesome zippers. Now, if only I was independently wealthy so could spend all day sewing!

A bag set for Brittnie

My recently engaged friend Brittnie moved across the country to LA to be near her man. I made this little bag set as a happy engagement sad you are moving away present.

One of the hardest things about starting any project is picking out the fabric! I spent a couple hours in Hobby Lobby one evening and finally chose these (along with a couple other cute sets).

Next came choosing which zipper and thread to use. I ended up going with a 9" tan zip and light teal/blueish colored thread.

After lots of ironing, cutting, and more ironing I had all the pieces for the brush roll ready. This time I tried something new and used elastic for the tie. I also used iron in vinyl for the first time. It was a little trick and not quite as wrinkly free as I would have liked, but I think the roll with hold up better and stay cleaner with it.

Here's the finished product. It has 11 slots for brushes and such.

All rolled up.

This is the cosmetic bag to go with the brush roll.

There are 2 pockets on the inside for little things like hair clips, lip gloss, jewelry and such.

The bigger pocket with my logo. :-) Sorry the pictures are sideways. Next time I will have to get them edited before uploading.

My first sewing project: Make-up Travel Kit

A while ago (ok maybe it was a few years) my grandmother gave me one of her sewing machines. She does lots of sewing and so has several machines. I looked at my new to me sewing machine and it seemed very complicated so I just ignored it for a while. Until a few months ago. I have several friends in the area who sew and one of them offered to give me a lesson. I was pretty excited and became even more excited the first time I went to the store to pick out fabric! A new addiction was born! I can spend hours looking at fabric either online or in the store. :-)

 Karri taught me how to make this cute makeup brush roll and cosmetic bag. Then I took the techniques she taught me and made two small do-dad bags. I'm really happy with how everything turned out, especially considering it was my first project. Now I have a cute travel set for my makeup!
